.UK domains transfers are slightly different from most other domains. They don't require a Auth code / EPP code. They use an IPS TAG system run by Nominet. The tag is required for transferring in or out of 1st Domains.

Transferring to 1st Domains

To transfer a .UK domain name to 1st Domains, firstly initiate the transfer from our web site. You can do that here.

Once you have initiated the transfer, a 7 day window will be opened for your domain name. You will then need to contact your current Registrar within 7 days and ask them to change the UK Registry TAG for your domain name to ENOM. This is the UK Registry TAG for our provider.

Once you have done this, we will email you to confirm when the transfer has completed, usually within 72 hours.

It is important that you change the TAG with the current registrar(losing registrar) otherwise the transfer will fail.

Transferring away from 1st Domains

1. Obtain the IPS TAG from the new registrar
   1. The new registrar will provide this when you start the transfer on their website
2. Ensure the current registrant’s email address is correct
   1. You may receive an email from the new registrar to confirm the transfer
3. Provide the IPS TAG to 1st Domains
4. 1st Domains will confirm the transfer from their side
5. The typical transfer time is from a few minutes up to a 1 business day.
