You may want to use your own name servers and ensure that any new domain registrations are delegated to these name servers by default. This can be configured through your Account Manager page. Follow the steps below:
- Log in to your 1st Domains account using your Account ID or a domain name associated with your account.
- Once logged in, you will be on the Account Manager page.
- If you used the domain name to log in it would have logged you into that domain's domain name manager page. Click on the drop down Account menu at the top right hand corner. Select "Manage Account" from the drop down menu.
- Scroll down to the section called Advanced Options, then click on "Default Name Servers".
- By default, the Autofill Status is set to OFF. Toggle this to ON to edit the current name servers. They will initially be set to ours.
- Remove our name servers and enter your default name servers in the provided text fields.
- You can add more than two name servers, just click on the + icon to add more.
- Once you have entered your name servers, click "Set Default".
From now on, any newly registered domain will automatically use the name servers you have configured as its DNS servers. You will then manage your DNS zone records on those servers going forward.
