Who is the Billing Contact?

The billing contact is the person or organization responsible for receiving notifications related to your domain name. This includes renewal notices and account reminders. The billing contact could be you or someone from your accounts department. You can have a different billing contacts for each domain in your account. This way you can have different people manage the payment for their domain. Or you can set the billing contact to be your own for each domain.

It's important to remember that the billing contact is not the person being charged for the renewal. They are simply the contact designated to receive notifications about pending domain renewals. The account holder is responsible for renewing services and domains. If they want the domain owner to manage renewals, they can set up third-party access for a specific domain. This can be done here.

This option is especially useful when multiple domains are managed under a single account.

The billing contact will receive the tax receipt for transactions related to this domain name. However, the billing contact will not receive any correspondence containing your account number or password.
